About this programme
The Intellectual Property Right (IPR) component under the Ministry of MSME's "MSME Innovative Scheme" (a component of the MSME Champions Scheme) reimburses registered MSMEs for expenses incurred in registering patents, trademarks, designs and geographical indications (GI). How it works
MSMEs first obtain a granted/registered patent, trademark, design or GI through the competent IP authority (e.g. Indian Patent Office, Trademark Registry), then file a reimbursement application through the scheme's online portal (innovative.msme.gov.in). The application is scrutinised and validated by an empanelled Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC), forwarded to the Ministry of MSME for approval, and the reimbursement is then disbursed by the IPFC directly to the applicant.
Who can apply
Registered Micro, Small or Medium Enterprises (or individuals/partnership firms holding full/majority ownership) with a valid Udyam Registration whose patent, trademark, design or GI has been granted/registered; the funding cannot have been claimed under any other Central/State Government scheme for the same IP asset.
How to apply
- Obtain the patent/trademark/design/GI registration or grant from the competent IP authority (paying the associated fees upfront)
- File a reimbursement application through the online portal at innovative.msme.gov.in, along with a valid Udyam Registration and required documents
- Application is scrutinised and validated by the empanelled Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (IPFC) in the applicant's jurisdiction
- IPFC forwards the validated application to the Ministry of MSME (Office of DC-MSME) for approval
- Upon Ministry approval, the IPFC disburses the reimbursement to the applicant MSME
