About this programme

FITT (Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer) is one of India's earliest academia-based startup incubators, operating since 1999-2000 at IIT Delhi's Research and Innovation Park. It helps technology-driven startups convert innovative ideas into commercially viable products through access to prototyping facilities, a vast mentor network, and competitive funding programs across all development stages. The program houses over 125 active companies and provides deep-tech investor connections, IPR management, legal guidance, and subsidized workspace. It is run by FITT - IIT Delhi.

A grant is financial support you don’t repay — awarded against eligibility and, usually, agreed milestones or utilisation of funds. The amount and form of support that actually apply to you depend on the programme’s rules and how your application is assessed — they are not fixed for every applicant.

It is aimed at businesses in deep-tech / technology-driven startups. Like most government programmes, it has its own eligibility conditions, documentation and application window, and these terms are revised from time to time. Because of that, it is worth confirming the current eligibility, amount and deadline on the official programme page before you invest time in applying.

How it works

Incubated startups access multiple funding mechanisms: grants (₹4 lakh to ₹1 crore for early-stage validation), equity/debt investments (₹10 lakh to ₹1.5 crore), and participation in competitive funding programs. Startups submit ideas with utilization plans; selection involves discussion with the FITT team and presentation to the selection committee.
