About this programme

AgriSURE (Agri Fund for Start-Ups & Rural Enterprises) is a Category-II Alternative Investment Fund set up by the Government of India and NABARD to support innovative, technology-driven, high-risk, high-impact activities in the agriculture and rural enterprise start-up ecosystem. It has a total corpus of Rs 750 crore, contributed equally (Rs 250 crore each) by the Government of India and NABARD, with the remaining Rs 250 crore to be mobilized from other institutions and private investors. The Fund invests through a blended, co-investment model in Sector Specific AIFs, Sector Agnostic AIFs, Debt AIFs and via Direct Equity Investment in start-ups. It offers both equity and debt support with a variable ticket size of up to Rs 25 crore per start-up/AIF, and aims to support about 85 start-ups over its life. The Fund's duration is 10 years from inception, extendable by 2 years, and it is managed by NABVENTURES Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NABARD.

This is equity funding — the investor (often through a fund) takes a stake in your company in exchange for capital, rather than lending or granting money. You give up some ownership; you don’t repay it like a loan. The amount and form of support that actually apply to you depend on the programme’s rules and how your application is assessed — they are not fixed for every applicant.

It is aimed at businesses in agriculture and rural enterprise value chain: agritech, food processing, animal husbandry, fisheries, farm mechanisation, biotechnology, supply chain management, waste management, renewable energy, fpo support and climate change. Like most government programmes, it has its own eligibility conditions, documentation and application window, and these terms are revised from time to time. Because of that, it is worth confirming the current eligibility, amount and deadline on the official programme page before you invest time in applying.
